Quick look

✅ Launch applications through Spotlight

Press CMD + SPACE and start typing the name of an app. Press ENTER to launch the app.

Hot take: this is MUCH better than using LaunchPad ;)

Quitting applications vs. Closing windows

Closing windows does not mean that the application is not running, which can drag down your computer.

Change the default app for specific file types.

When you double click a file in Finder, MacOS will open that file in a application based on the file’s extension.

WAV, mp3, and other audio files will typically open in Apple Music, for example.

To change the default—such as using Ocen Audio for audio files—do the following:

  1. Locate a file in Finder.

  2. Right click on the file and select GET INFO (CMD + i)

  3. Under “Open with:” select the application that you want to use.

  4. Press the “Change All” button to make this the default for all files of this type:

Note, if you change the default app for WAV files, this does not automatically change the app for mp3 files because they have different extensions. SO you would need to repeat this process for related file types.
